Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. Since her inception, she has been in each season of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment which was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran, who was the second child of 10 from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. his father was a multi-talented employee throughout the years of Corcoran's childhood. The family relied sometimes on the free food delivery from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year and transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
